When you view your credit report, you should go through all your details to check that everything is correct, as any inaccurate information could be impacting your credit score.
You should confirm that your name, including any middle names and/or previous names are correct and that any address details are also listed correctly.
You should also check your financial records to make sure that it truly reflects your accounts financial history. If there are missed payments that you do not recognise, this could be because the account has defaulted from the original agreement with the lender. We can assure you, that these missed payments highlighted have no further impact on your score than the default is already having. You should reach out to your lender to query the information they've reported if you don't believe this to be correct.
It can take lenders around six weeks to update your account information with the credit reference agencies, so don’t be concerned if your latest payments are not listed on your current credit report.
We partner with TransUnion to provide your credit report, and we're not able to amend your information ourselves. If you do notice anything incorrect on your report, you will need to raise a dispute with TransUnion. You can raise a dispute by selecting the ‘raise a dispute’ link on your credit report under the relevant section.
Raising a dispute will flag the issue with TransUnion, who will follow up with the lender directly for you, in an attempt to amend your information. Please note it may take up to 28 days to hear back from TransUnion as this is the time they are required to provide lenders with, in order to investigate the issue. TransUnion will need the lender to authorise any amendments, so it's important you have already contacted the lender to bring this to their attention and confirm whether it is incorrect.
If you need any support raising a dispute or selecting the appropriate reason, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
