How does instant quote work?
Updated over a week ago

Instant Quote is an estimate of what your car insurance premium could be. It’s not a final quote, so it’s important to understand that it could change after completing the questions for the full quote.

When you use the instant quote, the price is estimated based on the info we have about you, and generic data we have based on what other drivers have been quoted for their insurance.*

All you need to do to get your instant quote is give us your:

- Car registration

- Cost of the car

- Insurance start date

- Years of no claims discount

- Voluntary excess

You’ll then be able to see the estimate for the cost of your car insurance, and you can decide if you would like to continue with the more detailed form to get a full comparison of insurance premiums.

Insurance premiums are calculated using a wide range of information and factors, which are unique to you. Most insurance providers only give quotes one month in advance. Costs and prices are often changing, so doing this means you can get a more accurate result.

What criteria is required for an Instant Quote estimate?

The Instant Quote estimate is based on car insurance quotes for low risk drivers, over a one year period.

- The driver is a resident of the UK

- The driver has no claims, no convictions, and has never had insurance declined or cancelled or special terms imposed

- There are no additional drivers

- The car to be insured has not been modified or imported (grey imported)

- Recent quotes used for the purposes of the estimate include third party, third party; fire and theft and comprehensive cover

- Value of the vehicle is worth less than £25,000

What should I do if my car registration isn't recognised?

Unfortunately, only cars registered in the UK can be found.

If your car is registered in the UK but can’t be found on the system, select ‘No’ when asked for your registration number. You can then enter the type of vehicle you own. This form is only shown for those who select ‘No.’

Let your new insurance provider know your registration number when you get your policy. Some will want it before you can buy the insurance.
