What’s a standing charge?

Edited

A standing charge is a fixed price you pay each day regardless of the energy you use, measured in pence per day (p/day).

For example, if you pay 50p/day standing charge, you’d pay around £15 in standing charges a month. Beware that both gas and electricity have standing charges.
