Why have I been rejected?
It's not common for someone to be rejected for an energy plan. It's most likely, that you didn't pass the supplier's final credit checks. Or, the information you gave them about your energy usage wasn't quite correct. Unfortunately, we can't tell you the exact reason why. But, you could contact the supplier to find out more. Other reasons for rejection include:
- Your meter isn't supported by the new supplier
- The information you provided doesn't match up to the info on the National Grid, or
- Your address has a business meter.
What happens If I’ve been rejected for energy?
Even if you've been rejected, you still have some options. Sometimes, you'll be asked to sign up for a direct debit plan, based on an estimated monthly usage. Or, you may be able to provide a guarantor, who will be asked to make the payments if you can't.
You could even be asked to pay a deposit upfront, or be put on a pre-payment meter.
