If you have a poor credit history, often the only lenders that will accept your application are companies that offer specialised products.
These products can really help you improve your credit rating if used correctly. These cards do have a high APR however, so if used incorrectly you could find that your repayments can become overwhelming.
If you decide to take out one of these products, only borrow what you need and make sure you can pay off in full each month. Lenders want to see that you can manage your finances efficiently over a significant period. If you are unable to repay the balance in full, this isn’t the end of the world but try to always make sure you are paying the minimum repayments as set out by your provider.
It’s also worth noting that where possible, you should only use credit cards for purchases; as withdrawing money from cards will be looked at unfavorably by lenders and can result in high interest costs incurred.
